MILESTONES IN PRECISION WATCHMAKING.
When Ferdinand A. Lange began to manufacture pocket watches in Glashütte over 160 years ago, his ambition – contrary to what was customary then – was to build extremely precise timepieces of consistently high quality. Since this was not feasible with the traditional methods, he developed many new measuring instruments and tools. He also embarked on a quest for novel technical solutions that would enhance the precision and reliability of his watches.
Sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons followed in the footsteps of Ferdinand A. Lange. Again and again, they succeeded in endowing Lange pocket watches, by then already acclaimed for their accuracy and perfection, with patented inventions and improvements taking precision watchmaking a further step forward. Thus, the family-owned enterprise in the Saxon town of Glashütte became a manufacture of global stature keeping its traditions alive. Its legendary pocket watches still rank among the most coveted timepieces in the world. |
