THE FIRST LANGE WATCH OF THE NEW ERA.
The LANGE 1 incorporates the knowledge and the skills of an entire dynasty of watchmakers – the lineage that dates back 160 years to Ferdinand A. Lange. The founder’s great-grandson Walter Lange has preserved its grand heritage in horology to this very day.
The manufacture movement of the LANGE 1 showcases many of the traditional elements of the legendary pocket watches signed by Lange, including the three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver, the screwed gold chatons, and the hand-engraved balance cock with the whiplash precision index adjuster. These features once nearly sank into oblivion because A. Lange & Söhne was expropriated after World War II. For more than 40 years thereafter, no new watches were issued bearing the arguably most eminent marque in German precision watchmaking. But after Germany was reunited, Walter Lange and a small group of artisans began to craft new timepieces in Glashütte again. The very first A. Lange & Söhne watch of the new era was the LANGE 1. |
