THE MOVEMENT OF THE SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR – A TRULY FUNCTIONAL WORK OF ART.
The movement of the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR is based on the venerable self-winding SAX-0-MAT calibre, whose finish is an acclaimed benchmark. It is powered bidirectionally by a gold three-quarter rotor with a platinum centrifugal mass. The rotor has four ball bearings that minimise friction. Thanks to the convenient ZERO-RESET mechanism, it can be precisely set to one-second accuracy. The ingenious movement of the SAXONIA ANNUAL CALENDAR is en-
dowed with a calendar mechanism as well as the patented iconic Lange outsize date.
PRECISION FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR.
To display the day of the week, date, month, and moon phase, the calendar mechanism relies on complex algorithms. It automatically recognises which months have 30 and 31 days, respectively, so it only skips a beat once a year: February is programmed to have 30 days, so the calendar must be adjusted once a year on the first day of March. The moon-phase display requires considerably less attention. If the watch runs without interruption, it needs to be corrected by one day only every 122 years.
BESPOKE DECORATIONS – FOR INIMITABLE CHARISMA.
Without exception, all parts of the movement are lavishly decorated by hand, even those that normally remain concealed. No fewer than five decoration techniques are involved. The three-quarter plate is finished with Glashütte ribbing. Small levers and jumpers are decorated with straight graining, wheels with circular graining. The undersides of the plates feature a perlage pattern, and the spring barrel is finished with solarisation on both sides. Additionally, all the edges in the movement are
chamfered and polished.
