About 50 journalists from 20 countries came to Glashütte last Thursday, 5 December 2013, to be the first to see one of next year’s SIHH debuts. Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid and Anthony de Haas, Director of Product Development, presented the new timepiece GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE at a press conference in the shell of the new A. Lange & Söhne manufactory building.
Furthermore, Wilhelm Schmid and company founder Walter Lange bestowed the F. A. Lange Watchmaking Excellence Award upon Paul Wudy (23) from Vienna. The watchmaking student from the Technical School of Karlstein in Austria received 10,000 euros prize money for his construction of a second time-zone display. The award emphasises the importance to support the young generation for the future of fine-watchmaking.
Additionally, Wilhelm Schmid handed over a donation of 5000 euros to LUBA Dresden e. V., represented by Elisa Renschen. Since 2010, this public charity from Dresden fulfils wishes of disadvantaged children from the region.
