Beyond the function of a simple | chronograph, a rattrapante chronograph can also be used for lap time measurements, time comparisons, and the identification of fastest/slowest laps. In conventional rattrapante chronographs, these functions are limited to one revolution along the seconds scale, i.e. to 60 seconds.

The double rattrapante mechanism developed by Lange also has a rattrapante minute hand. Thanks to this feature, it is now possible for the first time to make truly meaningful use of the rattrapante functions - for events that last up to 30 minutes.
