Moon-phase displays For time immemorial, the earth’s companion has inspired great fascination among humans with its cyclic and occasionally mystical appearances in the sky. It is therefore no wonder that the moon-phase display is one of the classic complications of watchmaking.

At A. Lange & Söhne, our watchmakers and engineers exhaust all the possibilities offered by mechanical precision to trace the path of the earth’s satellite with the utmost accuracy and reproduce its radiance with maximum brilliance. Most of our moon-phase displays reproduce the moon’s orbit with a precision of 99.998 per cent, so if the watch runs uninterrupted, it needs to be adjusted only after 122.6 years – and even then only by one day.
