Additional functions and complications
Our timepieces offer a multitude of functions that go far beyond purely indicating the time. These include, for example, power-reserve indicators or date displays as well as elaborate single or multiple complications such as perpetual calendars, split-seconds chronographs or strikeworks. Often, they are equipped with special constructions or functions that, for instance, simplify their operation – examples of which are the stop-seconds device for the tourbillon or the mechanism for jointly advancing the calendar indications.
Special editions
Our limited special editions distinguish themselves with impressive hallmarks and intriguing combinations that draw the interest of, in particular, collectors and aficionados of mechanical watches. They embody unique approaches that are typical of Lange, or sophisticated and rare finishing techniques. They represent the result of the ongoing, tireless quest for perfection of our engineers, watchmakers and finishers.
Case materials
For the greater part, our timepieces are endowed with cases crafted from 750 pink, white or yellow gold, or 950 platinum. Lange’s exclusive HONEYGOLD® is an exceptional case material ‒ reserved only for a few select, limited models. It owes its name to the warm hue that ranges between 750 pink and white gold. Additionally, our sporty-elegant ODYSSEUS watch family boasts water-resistant cases in titanium or stainless steel.
Winding mechanisms
The winding procedure provides the energy required for the precise running of a mechanical watch. The energy is stored in the mainspring barrel by at least one mainspring. In models that are manually wound, the spring is tensioned by hand – usually by turning the crown clockwise.
Self-winding watches are equipped with a rotor which gains momentum through the wrist movement and thereafter continuously retensions the mainspring via a gear system. Manual winding is not necessary if the watch is worn regularly or rotated on a watch winder.
