CONCOURS OF ELEGANCE AT HAMPTON COURT PALACE

Passion for classics

Mechanical elegance in royal setting

The Concours of Elegance held in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace near London furnishes A. Lange & Söhne with a fitting stage for exhibiting consummate masterpieces of Glashütte watchmaking artistry.

The splendid gardens of Hampton Court Palace provide a magnificent setting for spectacular historical automobiles. Since 2018, A. Lange & Söhne has sponsored this prestigious vintage competition that will enthral numerous spectators with about 60 rare and valuable works of art on wheels. Ceremonial highlight is the presentation of the “Best of Show” Award.

Enthusiasts of classic automobiles do not drive them with the purpose of reaching their destination – but of turning every trip into something special. The appreciation of traditional craftsmanship especially comes to the fore in the desire to preserve it. This holds true for motorised masterpieces as well as those worn on the wrist.

“Being part of the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace has become a special tradition for us, underscoring our passion for ground-breaking engineering and artisanship, as well as its significance for future generations,”

Wilhelm Schmid, A. Lange & Söhne CEO

Special unique pieces for The King’s Trust

The mission of the UK-based youth charity under the patronage of His Majesty King Charles III is to help young people develop essential life skills, prepare for work and access employment opportunities.

In aid of the important work of the Trust and to present the watchmaking art of the A. Lange & Söhne manufacture, select “Hampton Court” editions are occasionally introduced as auction pieces at the Concours of Elegance. The entire proceeds of the auctioning of these special timepieces go to the Trust.

DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN “Hampton Court Edition”

Since the DATOGRAPH was launched in 1999, chronographs have been among the manufacture’s flagships – thanks to their technical and aesthetic finesse. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of this ground-breaking chronograph, A. Lange & Söhne introduced the DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN in a “Hampton Court” edition, a unique piece that was especially crafted for the Concours of Elegance 2024, featuring a flyback function, precisely jumping minute counter and an exclusive colour combination.

1815 CHRONOGRAPH “Hampton Court Edition”

The 1815 CHRONOGRAPH “Hampton Court Edition” represented a horological highlight at the 2022 Concours of Elegance. Not unlike the historical rarities on four wheels, this special edition is an expression of consummate design, elegance and technical finesse. The case of the unique piece is crafted in 950 white gold and accommodates a black dial with sandstone-coloured numerals and matching tachymeter scale.
