Headquarter of A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte, Germany

Since A. Lange & Söhne was re-established in 1990, Walter Lange's proclaimed goal has been to once again build watches that are among the best in the world. That is why every timepiece that leaves our manufactory in Glashütte must meet the highest standards – from the hand-engraved balance cock to the finishing of the individual parts and the twofold assembly of the movements, whether hidden deep in the movement or directly visible through the sapphire crystal back.

Our timepieces are highly sophisticated developments of traditional fine watchmaking. The basis of our work is to challenge conventions. This is the only way that we can succeed in developing from the ground up and making watches that are particularly precious and unique. Complications of every degree have been found in the 71 Lange calibres developed since 1990. Timepieces such as the ZEITWERK with its mechanical jumping numeral display or the LANGE 1 with its characteristic outsize date and asymmetrical design could only be created because we push the boundaries of what is possible.

Each of our watches is Made in Germany. They are constructed in our manufactory in Glashütte, crafted by hand and renowned for their reliability through excellent mechanics. Our roots have been here ever since Ferdinand Adolph Lange laid the foundation for Saxon fine watchmaking with his manufactory in Glashütte in 1845 and led it to world fame. It is this past steeped in history that drives our standards and our pursuit of perfection. You will understand as soon as you hold a Lange watch in your hands.

THE ART OF WATCHMAKING

Craftsmanship and tradition are intertwined in our manufactory every day to create truly unique timepieces. Watchmaking conventions are constantly questioned, developed and improved in our strive for perfection. Our finishers and watchmakers continuously adapt and optimise the various finishing and manufacturing processes. Countless hours are invested in every single timepiece until it meets our standards. And watch lovers become connoisseurs when you take a closer look at our craftsmanship – see for yourself.

MANUFACTURE MOVEMENTS
MANUFACTURE MOVEMENTS
Every A. Lange & Söhne timepiece is equipped with a manufacture movement. To be more precise: all calibres are developed, crafted, finished and assembled in our manufacture in Glashütte. Because it is our clear commitment to exclusively use our own movements.
FINISHING AND ENGRAVING
FINISHING AND ENGRAVING
The art of finishing movements ranks high in our manufacture. No matter whether large or infinitesimal, whether clearly visible or hidden, almost every part is decorated by hand. Different techniques are used: every component is assigned its own individual type of finish, the sum total a harmonious overall appearance.

HERITAGE

Our values and aspirations are closely linked to the history of Saxon fine watchmaking. In 1845, Ferdinand Adolph Lange founded his watch manufactory in Glashütte and it was not long before his pocket watches achieved worldwide fame. Later, his sons continued his legacy through numerous patents and further developments. Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Walter Lange, the great-grandson of Ferdinand Adolph Lange, dared to make a new start in 1990. With his new manufactory, he set out with the goal of building watches that were among the best in the world – and substantiated this claim four years later with the presentation of the first collection. Travel back to the beginnings of Saxon fine watch making here to understand why we will always choose the longer path to perfection.
