The Spaniards dismissively named it platino, ‘little silver’, when they were hunting for gold and did not realise that they had an even more valuable metal on their hands. On the other hand, the native peoples of South America and the ancient Egyptians had already used platinum to make jewellery.
This precious metal is regarded as particularly corrosion-resistant, malleable and rare, making platinum attractive for jewellery and prestigious watches. At Lange, we use only platinum with 950 ppt purity.
Case materials

Pink-gold watches
The admixture of a certain metal results in enhanced solidity of the gold and also produces a warm, reddish hue.

Platinum watches
Ancient advanced civilisations used the material that boasts a silver sheen to craft jewellery, the value of platinum was, however, not recognised for a long time.

Honey-gold watches
Lange exclusive honey gold (HONEYGOLD®) is substantially harder than other gold alloys: it is also characterised by a unique, warm hue.
